User Guide

This fuel usage calculator will take the total distance you want to travel and the fuel economy for the petrol, gasoline or diesel engine powered motor vehicle to be used, and estimate the amount of fuel required to complete the journey.

Formula

The fuel usage formula used by this calculator is:

V = d / FE

Symbols

  • V = Fuel volume
  • d = Distance travelled
  • FE = Fuel Economy

Distance Travelled

Enter the total distance of the intended journey in any units.

Fuel Economy

Enter the average distance per unit of fuel volume performance for the motor vehicle. Distance per volume fuel economy is often used to compare the fuel efficiency of motor vehicles which have engines that run on liquid fuels such as petrol, gasoline or diesel.

Fuel Volume Used

This is the estimated total quantity of fuel which will be used based on the entered total trip distance and average fuel economy for the motor vehicle that will be driven.
