User Guide

This online tool will calculate the length, width or height of a rectangular shaped box from the volume, and two other known dimensions of length.

Once the parameters have been entered for volume and the other two known length dimensions, the unknown length dimension will be calculated. Also a graphic of the rectangular box will be drawn and labels added for the volume and each dimension of length, along with the selected measurement units.

Formula

The formula used by this calculator to calculate the unknown length, width or height of a rectangular shaped box is:

L3 = V / (L1 · L2)

Symbols

  • V = Volume
  • L1 = 1st Length
  • L2 = 2nd Length
  • L3 = 3rd Length

Volume

Enter the volume of the rectangular shaped box, and select the relevant volumetric units.

1st Length

Enter one of the known dimensions which can be either the length, width or height of the rectangular shaped box, and select the relevant length measurement units.

2nd Length

Enter the other known dimension which can be either the length, width or height of the rectangular shaped box, and select the relevant length measurement units.

3rd Length

This is the unknown dimension of length calculated from the volume, and two other known dimensions of length & width, length & height, or width & height.
