User Guide
This tool will calculate the measurement of a selected dimension for one of the two boxes, which is necessary to ensure both boxes have the same volume.
Use this tool to calculate the dimensions of a two boxes whilst maintaining an equal storage volume.
Determine the dimensions of two different storage tanks which will hold the same capacity of fluid
Experiment with different dimensions for each rectangular shaped box whilst maintaining an equal volume for both.
Formulas
The formulas used by this two boxes dimensions with equal volume calculator to determine each individual parameter is as follows:
Lbox1 = Lbox2 · Wbox2 · Hbox2 / (Wbox1 · Hbox1)
Wbox1 = Lbox2 · Wbox2 · Hbox2 / (Lbox1 · Hbox1)
Hbox1 = Lbox2 · Wbox2 · Hbox2 / (Lbox1 · Wbox1)
Lbox2 = Lbox1 · Wbox1 · Hbox1 / (Wbox2 · Hbox2)
Wbox2 = Lbox1 · Wbox1 · Hbox1 / (Lbox2 · Hbox2)
Hbox2 = Lbox1 · Wbox1 · Hbox1 / (Lbox2 · Wbox2)
V = Lbox1 · Wbox1 · Hbox1
V = Lbox2 · Wbox2 · Hbox2
Symbols
- Lbox1 = Length of box 1
- Wbox1 = Width of box 1
- Hbox1 = Height of box 1
- Lbox2 = Length of box 2
- Wbox2 = Width of box 2
- Hbox2 = Height of box 2
- V = Volume of box 1 or box 2
Length of Box 1
This is the length of the longest horizontal dimension of box 1.
Width of Box 1
This is the length of the shortest horizontal dimension of box 1.
Height of Box 1
This is the length of the vertical dimension of box 1.
Length of Box 2
This is the length of the longest horizontal dimension of box 2.
Width of Box 2
This is the length of the shortest horizontal dimension of box 2.
Height of Box 2
This is the length of the vertical dimension of box 2.
Volume
This is the volume of box 1 or box 2. The volume will be calculated as soon as all the dimensions for either box have been fully entered. If all dimension inputs have values, then the dimensions of box 1 will be used to calculate the volume. If you would like to use the dimensions for box 2 rather than box 1, simply clear one of the box 1 dimensions, and the tool will automatically allow box 2 dimensions to be entered instead.
