This pressure sensor can be used in applications where it is necessary to ensure leaks are kept to a very low level and no contaminants are introduced when adding test instrumentation.
The materials exposed to the measurement media are all welded to eliminate any possible migration of gas between seals thich may deteriorate over time due to pressure and temperature cycling. The sensing diaphragm is made from a relative thick piece of stainless steel which has sufficient thickness to prevent Helium atoms passing through. This is unlike some other types of stainless steel diaphragm pressure sensors which utilise a very thin isolation diaphragm back-filled with silicone oil, which are prone to allow gases with the smallest atomic size, such as Helium and Hydrogen, to gradually pass through.
During manufacture, the DMP 335 all welded stainless steel pressure sensor is leak tested using a helium leak tester which is capable of measuring leak rates down to 1 x 10-6 mbar·l/sec. Once tested a helium leakage test certificate documents the test and is included with the other sensor documentation. Also the wetted parts (components exposed to the measurement media) are clean and degreased as part of the final production stage and then sealed in airtight packaging ready for delivery.
