Perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) is a seal material type which has a much higher temperature rating than the more common FKM and can be used on temperatures up to 300°C. FFKM also has a broader chemical resistance than FKM.
FFKM is typically used to seal components which are designed to withstand media temperatures up to 300°C. FFKM is also used as an alternative seal material when the standard fitted seal material is not chemically compatible with the process media.
FFKM is a more expensive material than FKM and therefore it is only used in the construction of measurement equipment when it is absolutely necessary to meet the application requirements.
Kalrez®, Chemraz®, Perlast® and Simriz® are all well known brands of FFKM material used to manufacture O ring seals.
FFKM seals have the best chemical compatibility out of all the elastomers with almost universal chemical resistance.
