We need a device that will be used in an agricultural setting to monitor water-levels in open-air water-reservoirs or tanks with a maximum depth of 10ft. The water will be used as drinking water for cattle. We are using an existing board which accepts three wires, the transducer voltage output, the voltage supply to the transducer, and a common connection for both the supply & output signal. The supply voltage is 5V±about 0.1V to power the transducer, and the input expected from the transducer is a ratiometric voltage range of 0.5 to 4.5V for full-scale.
We would suggest the IMSL submersible water level transducer which can be screwed into the lower part of the tank or immersed completely inside a reservoir. The submersible back end will provide protection from weather conditions if mounted externally and continuous waterproof protection if installed internally. There is a ratiometric output signal version which will operate from a 5 volt dc supply and output a 0.5 to 4.5 volt dc signal. There will be a noticeable difference in output if the supply voltage is not stable, so the output will need to be compared to the supply voltage to achieve an accurate reading if the the supply voltage is not stable.
