User Guide
This volumetric heat capacity (VHC) units conversion tool will convert values of heat transferred per unit volume and per unit of temperature into any combination of heat energy, volumetric and delta temperature units.
Volumetric heat capacity (cV, cvol, cvolumetric, C/V, CV-1) is a measure of how much heat energy (Q) is required to be transferred to or from a solid, liquid or gas, in order to cause one unit of its volume (V), to change by one unit of temperature (ΔT).
The SI unit for measuring volumetric heat capacity (VHC) is joules per cubic metre per kelvin (J/m3·K).
In addition to common units used for volumetric heat capacity such as joules per cubic metre per kelvin (J/m3·K), calories per cubic metre per degree Celsius (cal/m3·°C), kilocalories per cubic metre per degree Celsius (kcal/m3·°C) and British thermal units per cubic foot per degree Fahrenheit (BTU/ft3·°F), you can also use other energy units combined with volumetric & temperature units, which are not normally used for quantities of heat and associated calculations.
