User Guide
This specific heat capacity (SHC) units conversion tool will convert values of heat transferred per unit mass and per unit of temperature into any combination of heat energy, mass and delta temperature units.
Specific heat capacity (c, cp, cs, cm) is a measure of how much heat energy (Q) is required to be transferred to or from a solid, liquid or gas, in order to cause one unit of its mass (m), to change by one unit of temperature (ΔT).
The SI unit for measuring specific heat capacity (SHC) is joules per kilogram per kelvin (J/kg·K).
In addition to common units used for specific heat capacity such as joules per kilogram per kelvin (J/kg·K), calories per kilogram per degree Celsius (cal/kg·°C), kilocalories per kilogram per degree Celsius (kcal/kg·°C) and British thermal units per pound per degree Fahrenheit (BTU/lb·°F), you can also use other energy units combined with mass & temperature units, which are not normally used for quantities of heat and associated calculations.
