User Guide

This online tool will calculate the diameter of a cylindrical shaped object from the required volume capacity and length.

Once the parameters have been entered for the cylinder volume and length, the diameter of the cylinder will be calculated. Also a graphic depicting the resulting cylindrical shape to exact proportions, will be drawn with labels indicating the volume, length, and diameter, along with corresponding selected measurement units for each parameter.

Formula

The formula used by this calculator to calculate the diameter of a cylinder from a specified volume and length is as follows:

r = ø/2

V = L · π · r²

V = L · π · (ø/2)²

ø = √(V/(L · π)) · 2
