User Guide
This conversion tool will convert a temperature value from and to degree Celsius, degree Fahrenheit, Kelvin or degree Rankine measurement units.
This tool will also display a conversion scale applicable to each converted temperature.
The lowest possible temperature is zero Kelvin (0 K), -273.15 °C, -459.67 °F, or 0 °R and this is called absolute zero. Despite this you can still use this tool to convert negative values in Kelvin units.
- Enter the temperature reading you would like to convert in the upper input box.
- Select the corresponding units from the upper selection list for the entered temperature above.
- Select the temperature units from the lower selection list that you would like to use for the conversion.
- The converted temperature will display in the lower text box.

Conversion Formulas
The following formulas are used by this temperature converting tool to convert from one temperature scale unit to the other:
Celsius
°C = (°F - 32) x 5/9
°C = K - 273.15
°C = (°R x 5/9) - 273.15
Fahrenheit
°F = (°C x 9/5) + 32
°F = ((K - 273.15) x 9/5) + 32
°F = °R - 459.67
Kelvin
K = °C + 273.15
K = ((°F - 32) x 5/9) + 273.15
K = °R x 5/9
Rankine
°R = (°C + 273.15) x 9/5
°R = °F + 459.67
°R = K x 9/5

Celsius to Fahrenheit
A degree Celsius is equal to how many degree Fahrenheit?
The conversion between degrees Celsius and degrees Fahrenheit is not directly proportional, so each conversion has to be calculated independently, e.g. 1 degC = 33.8 degF, but 2 degC does not equal 67.6 degF.
The conversion can be easily carried out using a calculator by multiply the Celsius value by 9/5 and then adding 32 to convert to Fahrenheit temperature units.
Fahrenheit = (Celsius x 9/5) + 32
