Groundwater, tank & reservoir water level detachable submersible cable hydrostatic liquid level sensor for multiple municipal water level measurement locations.
Product Description

There are many places in a water supply network of a municipal district where water level is measured by the LMP308 removable submersible cable sensor. such as the water depth in lakes, reservoirs and the head of water present in groundwater boreholes, dams, water towers and water tanks.
The LMP 308 is a pressure sensor designed for submerging in liquid to measure the liquid height. This sensor has a submersible electrical connector which can be easily detached from the sensor by the user. The sensor can be selected to measure levels from 0…1 mH2O/ 4 ftH2O up to 250 mH2O / 800 ftH2O, and the output signal of 4…20 mA can be specified with SIL2 or ATEX intrinsic safety approval.
A municipal water utility has many different locations and types of installation for measuring water level. The length of cable will vary at each location making it uneconomical to stock spares for every installation. A detachable cable and sensor makes it possible to stock a smaller quantity of sensors for use in multiple locations measuring a similar water level regardless of the installed cable length in each location.
Product Features
Eliminate cost of a replacement cable if sensor fails
On installations where there is a long cable length, fitting a replacement sensor is expensive, and having the ability to disconnect the sensor will significantly reduce the cost of replacement.
Save time on installing a replacement cable
There can many twists and turns when fitting a cable at the surface, which often requires the connection to instrumentation many metres away from the water surface. Detaching the sensor saves stripping out the old cable and fitting a new one.
Save on the cost of a replacement sensor
A detachable submersible water level sensor makes it convenient to replace a damaged signal cable without bearing the cost of replacing a perfectly functional submersible water level sensor.
Product Help
Re-scaling level range output signal
Is it possible to change the output range of LMP 308 to monitor a different depth. It would be really handy if you could move the sensor to a different location with a different cable length and level range?
Yes, the output signal of the high resolution and accuracy “i” version LMP 308i (pdf) can be re-scaled via the CIS-G Software for Windows® and RS-232 interface cable that is sold separately. The output range can be adjusted to any scaling within a 10:1 turndown ratio.
Cable attachment method
How is the cable attached to the sensor?
The submersible vented signal cable is joined together with the water level sensor with a male and female pin type connector that is pushed together and locked in place using a threaded nut. Three elastomer O-rings, two radial seals and one axial seal, provide the watertight seal. In additional to the supply and output pins there is a vent breather hole to allow atmospheric air pressure to reach the reference side of the sensor diaphragm.
Waterproofing
What is the waterproof rating for this sensor?
The LMP 308 cable connector assembly is IP 68 ingress protection rated for permanent submersion in water to a maximum depth of 250 metres.
Cable change re-calibration
Does the sensor need to be re-calibrated after fitting to a different cable?
The output of the sensor is 4-20mA current loop which is unaffected by cable length as long as there is sufficient power supply voltage for the sensor and any additional load introduced by a longer cable length. Therefore it should be possible to connect the sensor to any cable installation without any noticeable change in output signal.
