User Guide
This calculator will take the measurement of liquid height from a horizontal cylinder tank and convert it to a measure of the liquid volume held in the tank and the proportion of the tank that is filled. It is assumed that the tank is installed perfectly level and the tank wall thickness is insignificant compared to the tank dimensions.
Tank Level & Dimensions
Specify the following reading and tank dimensions.
Height of Liquid in Tank
Input the height of the fluid from the bottom of the tank to the fluid level.
Diameter of Tank
Enter the diameter of the tank, which is measured across the end of the tank, at the widest point, half-way up. Alternatively the diameter also corresponds to the height of the horizontal tank. If the thickness of the tank wall is known, then multiply it by 2 and deduct it from the the measured outside diameter, and use the corrected value instead.
Length of Tank
Enter the horizontal length of the tank in your preferred measurement units. If the thickness of the tank wall is known, then multiply it by 2 and deduct it from the outside tank length, and use the corrected value instead.
Contents of Tank
The amount of liquid held in the tank is determined in this section.
Volume of Liquid in Tank
Select the preferred volumetric units to display the calculated volume of the tank contents.
% Full Tank
This shows the percentage of the tank capacity that has been filled.
