Product Description

Measure low range gauge reference pressures of liquids and corrosive gases in hazardous areas where there is risk of a flammable gas or dust atmosphere.

The DMK 351 is a gauge reference pressure sensor for measuring pressures relative to atmospheric pressure (zero pressure when port is open to atmosphere). You can choose either a 4-20mA or 0-10 volt analog output signal and pressure ranges starting from 0 to 40 mbar, 16 inH2O, 0.6 psi or 4 kPa.

For example the DMK351 can be used to measure the natural gas, biogas or landfill gas pressure on sites which have hazardous area zones that only allow the installation of ATEX approved intrinsically safe electrical equipment.

Product Applications

Biogas pressure monitoring

Negative and positive 40 mbar range pressure transmitter for monitoring biogas in Ex hazardous area.

Product Features

Variable capacitance pressure sensing diaphragm

Variable capacitance sensing technology makes it possible to detect much smaller movement of the pressure sensing diaphragm, and makes it possible to measure lower pressures with less noise and better accuracy than more conventional strain gauge technology.

Alumina oxide ceramic diaphragm material

Many types of low pressure sensors are not compatible with liquids or corrosive gases because it is not possible to protect the sensing technology without compromising measurement sensitivity and accuracy. The DMK 351 sensing element module is made from alumina oxide Al2O2 ceramic which has intrinsic corrosion resistance to withstand most liquid chemicals and gases such as bio-gas, natural gas and landfill gases.

Compact size oil free gauge reference type

Many types of low range pressure sensors suitable for use on liquids are large and heavy because they are based on dp cell pressure sensor. The dp cell pressure sensor includes a double diaphragm oil filled capsule that is sandwiched between two heavy duty flanges. The DMK351 has a very different design that significantly reduces size and weight. The sensor has one connection port rather than two for the dp cell type, and the reference atmospheric pressure is vented through the body rather than a more cumbersome process connection. The sensor itself is a dry cell without any oil filling which reduces the size and weight further still.

Product Help

Small negative pressure scale

Is it possible to scale the pressure range to read small negative gauge pressure?

Yes, you can specify a negative range such as 0 to -50 mbar or 0 to -1 psi to read partial vacuum pressures. The output can also be scaled in the other direction such as -50 to 0 mbar or -1 to 0 psi.

Compound range

Is it possible to use this pressure sensor to measure positive and negative gauge pressure?

Yes it is possible to manufacture a custom compound range with any negative range from -40 mbar / 16 inH2O down to 0 to -1 bar / 14 psi, and a positive range from 0 to 40 mbar /16 inH2O up to 20 bar / 290 psi.

IS Approval type

What type of intrinsic safety approval does the DMK 351 have?

The DMK 351 is ATEX intrinsically safe certified for use in flammable gas or dust environments:

  • zone 0: II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga
  • zone 20: II 1D Ex ia IIIC T110 °C Da
