User Guide
Use this calculator to determine the power in watt, kilowatt, megawatt, volt-ampere, kilovolt-ampere or electrical horsepower units in a direct current (DC) electrical circuit with a specified current and resistance. Two conversion scales show how the power generated by an electrical circuit changes as current or resistance is changed independently, whilst the other remains fixed to the entered value.
Formula
The formula used by this calculator to determine the power generated by a DC electrical circuit from the current and resistance is:
P = I² · R
Symbols
- P = Power (DC)
- I = Current (DC)
- R = Electrical resistance (DC)
Current (I)
This is the electrical current flowing through the DC electrical circuit.
Resistance (R)
This is the electrical resistance of the DC electrical circuit
Power (P)
This is the resulting electrical power generated by a DC electrical circuit with the entered values for current and resistance.
