User Guide
This tool will help you calculate your stride length from your distance and steps recorded during walking or running.
Your stride length can tell you a lot about your walking or running style, and whether you are over-striding or under-striding, which may affect performance and lead to injuries if not corrected. If you have a target stride length you are aiming for, you can switch the answer mode and enter it along with a given distance to determine the number of steps needed for any distance, or vice versa you can find out how far you need to walk or run to achieve a target number of steps.
Parameters
Distance
This is the distance covered during walking or running between starting and stopping the stopwatch. The distance can be the total distance or part-way distance, as long as the other parameters recorded relate to the same distance. Below where you enter the distance you will find quick shortcuts for standard race distances from marathons to track events, to save you enter them manually.
Steps
This is the total number of steps taken during a walk or run . A step is counted each time your foot touches the ground while exercising, and is normally recorded using a dedicated pedometer, or a accelerometer built into your fitness watch or smartphone. Most fitness apps that you can install on your phone will record your total steps, and automatically detect when a particular activity has started.
Stride Length
This is the average distance between the left and right foot touching the ground during walking and running. The average stride length is determined by dividing the total distance covered by the number of steps measured from start to finish.
