We want to use a pressure sensor that can be easily interfaced with a computer to log results for a PASS/FAIL pressure leak test. The Unit Under Test (UUT) will be pressurised to 500 kPa and monitored for a pressure drop over a period of time lasting 5-10 mins. These pressure sensors will form part of a service kit and therefore they should be robust and straightforward to use with the computer. Ideally it should be possible to configure the software for a timed test run with a fail limit. We are also concerned about resolution, the higher the better. We have not set the fail limit yet, hence we would like a unit with the highest possible resolution.
We would suggest the UPS-HSR leak testing digital pressure sensor for your application. You would need the 16 bar version for your 500 kPa (5 bar) range, but the resolution is around 16 bit so you will see pressure increments of 0.00025 bar (0.025 kPa).
It’s really straightforward to use the software and connect via the USB port. The sensor is very robust and the electrical connection is IP68 rated so you can even get it wet.
The software includes alarm functions for setting fail thresholds, and start/stop functions to perform timed tests. On the Start button in the software user interface, you can select how long the data logging will run for, then you can set the alarm threshold, and by the end of the test you can see if the alarm was triggered.
