Product Description
The ASM miniature size pressure sensor is designed for research, car racing and on-vehicle applications which require low weight and small volume. The ASM has an amplified output compatible with most mobile signal conditioning instrumentation or a low powered high bandwidth response millivolt output.
The sensors electronic housing is IP67 protected and rated to a maximum temperature of 150 degC so it can be used in hot zones around vehicle engine components such as coolant and brake systems.

Output response time
What is the response time or bandwidth of the 0.5 to 4.5 volt output?
It is approximately 10 milliseconds.
Materials exposed to media
What are the wetted materials for the ASM miniature pressure transducer?
The ASM front end includes a process connection, housing and diaphragm. The complete assembly is welded together. The process connection and housing are made from stainless steel 316L. The diaphragm is made from stainless steel 15-5 PH.
Mounting directly on engine
How well does the ASM miniature pressure transducer hold up to vibration? Would it be possible to use the 10 bar version mounted directly to an engine? We found that we have to fit most sensors to a hose to protect them from engine vibration.
The ASM sensor has been robustly designed to tolerate high vibration and temperature installations and it is possible to install the sensor directly on the engine. Of course, if situating the sensor in a cooler, lower vibration environment is possible, then we would suggest this to prolong the life of the sensor as with any electronic device, but the sensors are suitable for mounting directly on the engine.
Absolute range
Is it possible to supply the ASM with an absolute pressure range?
No the current design can only be supplied with sealed gauge (fixed reference of 1 bar) pressure ranges. It is also feasible to manufacture vented gauge ranges which are open to atmosphere on the reference side, but then it is not possible to fill the electronics with potting compound and provide a high integrity IP67 rated environmental seal.
As an alternative, we would suggest the AS miniature pressure transducer which is available in absolute pressure ranges and has a 21mm diameter.
All welded wetted parts
Are all the sensor components that are exposed to the pressure media welded together on the ASM miniature pressure sensor?
Yes the diaphragm and pressure connector assembly is an all welded construction.
Measuring temperature and pressure
In addition to the pressure sensor output, is it possible to fit an integrated temperature sensor output to the ASM miniature pressure transducer?
There is a dual pressure and temperature output version of the ASM miniature pressure sensor called the ASMT.
The available temperature output types are as follows:
- NTC 100 kOhm thermistor, 1 wire
- NTC 100 kOhm thermistor, 2 wire
- NTC 230 kOhm thermistor, 1 wire
- NTC 230 kOhm thermistor, 2 wire
- NTC 10 kOhm thermistor, 1 wire
- NTC 10 kOhm thermistor, 2 wire
- PT1000, 1 wire
- PT1000, 2 wire
- PT100, 1 wire
- PT100, 2 wire
