This IMSTL water level & temperature sensor is configured for measuring the elevation and temperature of tailwater in hydroelectric power plant applications. This sensor features a dual output design, providing independent 4-20mA signals for both level and temperature measurements. The level measurement range of 0 to 40 feet of water column makes it suitable for monitoring tailwater levels in various hydroelectric power generation schemes, ensuring efficient turbine operation and preventing potential cavitation damage.
The IMSTL sensor’s ability to accurately measure water temperature over a wide range, from -14 to +122 degrees Fahrenheit, provides valuable data for assessing the thermal impact of the power plant on the receiving water body. This information is crucial for environmental monitoring and compliance with regulatory standards.
This sensor finds application in various hydroelectric power plant configurations, including those with Francis, Kaplan, or Pelton turbines. It can be installed in the tailrace, downstream of the turbine discharge, to monitor water levels and temperatures. The data provided by the IMSTL sensor can be used for optimizing turbine operation, controlling water flow, and assessing the environmental impact of the power plant.
