Product Description
The PGS700 high range pressure handpump can be used in conjunction with a precision pressure gauge or indicator for high pressure testing or calibrating hydraulic pressure gauges, high pressure sensors, hydraulic pressure switches and high pressure indicators.
For priming pressure lines the PGS700 hydraulic test hand pump can be switched for filling large volumes prior to high pressurisation. There is also a relatively large in-built 100cc hydraulic reservoir for priming smaller test volumes.
The PGS700 high pressure calibration hand pump is compatible with most common fluids including mineral oil and water.
A volume adjuster is incorporated into the PGS-700 high range hydraulic hand-pump for fine adjustment of calibration pressure setpoints.
The PGS700 hand-hand hydraulic pump includes a controlled release valve and volume adjuster in order to protect the instrument under test and the reference pressure standard from sudden pressure changes. There is also built-in handle stroke adjustment to limit the travel of the pump action to prevent overpressure of lower pressure range instruments.
The PGS700 handheld high pressure generation system includes 3/8 and 1/4 inch BSP female pressure connector and a quick fit connector for the flexible hose option. There are also options for extra pressure connection adapters to convert to 1/8, 3/8 & 1/2 inch BSP or NPT female and a robust transit case with foam insert for storing a pressure test gage with the handpump.

Product Help
Filling the pump reservoir
What would you recommend we use to fill the pump reservoir with water?
It is recommended to use a spray bottle like the one in the image below to fill up the pump reservoir.
Remove the filling plug and insert the spray bottle nozzle into the fill hole.
Reservoir volume
Ideally we need a 150cc reservoir, how much does the PGS700 hold?
The volume of the reservoir is 100cc, and you can top up while the pump is pressurised because the reservoir is not under pressure.
Displacement volume
What is the volume displaced from the PGS700 precision hydraulic hand pump, when generating pressure using the calipers?
In the priming mode it is approximately 81.6 mm³ per stroke (piston diameter 6 mm, piston move = 13.6 mm)
In the high pressure position it is approximately 21 mm³ per stroke (piston diameter 6 mm, piston move = 3.5 mm)
The priming mode is used to fill a large volume with fluid and pressurising to 200 to 400 bar prior to switching to the high pressure mode to generate a higher pressure.
High pressure hose testing
We need to carry out some high pressure hose integrity testing for the purpose of checking working pressures from 300 bar to 450 bar, would it be possible to use the PGS700 hand pump and pressure test gauge be used for pressure testing hydraulic hoses?
The PGS700 is designed for calibration purposes and is not intended for pressurising large volumes, since it has a limited reservoir and a small volume displacement per pump stroke. However if the hydraulic hose is relatively short and has a small inside diameter it should work fine.
One test gauge to calibrate 60 & 300 bar gauges
I am looking at purchasing a PGS700 calibration hand pump with the 700 bar digital test gauge. The hydraulic dial pressure gauges I need to calibrate are 6 x 60 bar and 16 x 300 bar. Would the 700 bar test gauge be adequate to calibrate these gauges?
We would suggest changing the range of the digital test gauge to 400 bar which also has an improved accuracy of 0.05% FS when compared to the 700 bar range. This should be adequate to calibrate the 60 bar to 300 bar ranges. The effective accuracy at 60 bar will be 0.33% FS, you can always add a lower range digital gauge at a later date if necessary.
